Putin in Crimea: Leader dives on Black Sea shipwreck in minisub

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been taken in a submersible to a sunken shipwreck during a visit to Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow last year.

Mr Putin went to see the vessel on the floor of the Black Sea near the port city of Sevastopol.

Russian officials say the remains of the Byzantine ship were discovered by members of a dive club in Rostov-on-Don in May.

The Kremlin says the aim of Mr Putin's controversial three-day trip to Crimea is to promote tourism, but he has also spoken about the Ukraine crisis, and warned the peninsula's minority ethnic Tatars that they should not seek special status.
